Favorites from August

Got a wall of pictures now!!

We went to David's Bridal and through a 2 hour painful process, we finally found 3 dresses that would coordinate and work for Joey's wedding:
Caught up with Kristi at lunch for her birthday

back to school shopping in masks

My mom brought up some of my old barbie's and then the girls got really into barbie's after that.  They then made barbie houses from scratch in their rooms, and have been playing together ever since.  I love when the three of them play together!

The 20/21 Young Life team kicked off this year and had a leader retreat in the barn.  We met up with them in the afternoon and sang worship songs and prayed with them for a great year:

We spent one afternoon at the Brown's house for a swim party, and everyone fell asleep when they got home.  Addie and Camryn even fell asleep while playing barbie's.
Cory made us a brisket for our dinner with the Alms

Had an afternoon with friends to celebrate Erin, Sarah and Kristi's birthday:
Cleaning masks for school is an undertaking!

First Day of School

2020 is going to be a crazy school year trying to navigate through COVID, but the kids are excited to be back in school.
Taylor wanted to buy some make-up for 6th grade

Addie wanted her hair curled for the first day of school

Crazy to be picking up the kids from school and see them in masks

The first day of school was really rough!  Once the girls were in the car, the tears started coming.  Because of COVID, the girls are only with their classroom throughout the entire school day.  Unfortunately, the girls did not get any of their friends in their classrooms.

They break the playground into 5 different groups, so there is no interaction between the classes.  Addie said that she was on the playground looking at the other area and watching her 3 best friends play together.  She said she hung out with her teacher during recess and just had tears in her eyes because she was so jealous and sad watching her friends play together.

Camryn was sad and felt very alone during the day.  She was sad but didn't cry too much.

Taylor was probably the worst of all.  She cried in the car on the way home, and she just sat at dinner with tears streaming down her face.  She said that she wanted to do virtual school since she didn't have any friends.

It was all pretty sad for Jason and I honestly.  But we started doing a quick bible study as a family at the end of dinner, and that evening we were studying about Abraham.  The prayer for that evening was "Lord, help me to have faith even when I don't understand what your plan is and what you are doing."  It was the perfect timing, so we really talked about having faith even through tough times.  We encouraged the girls to just make one friend the next day.  It didn't need to be a "best friend" but just someone to talk to and have as a friend.

Luckily, the next day was 100% better.  Each of the girls made a friend at school and were much happier.  We celebrated with getting a donut at Rick's Bakery after school!

Gulf Shores Round 2 in Summer of 2020

The girl's school schedule got updated and they pushed the school start date back 2 weeks and cancelled Fall Break, so we decided to make an additional trip to the beach to get in one last hurrah before the craziness of school started again.  It was just the 5 of us on this trip and it was awesome!  Loved all the time we spent together.  We only went out to eat twice and ate on the patio, then spent the rest of the evenings eating take-out on the beach.  It was a great week as a family unit!

Addie reeled in the rod at the end of one day and she had a shark

Jason and Addie went out on a small fishing trip and weren't very happy with the caliber of their guide.  The guide caught a fish and gave to Addie to reel in, and Addie said that "doesn't even count for her because she didn't cast it."  She's turning into a great fisherwoman!
Taylor, Camryn and I went to the pool for a bit when they fished that morning

Addie passed out that afternoon
