Taylor's Funny Comments

In three months, Taylor will be 3 years old!  We can't believe how fast she is growing up!  She is so independent and really seems like a little girl!  She watches over Addie like a little mother hen, and loves her so very much!  Here are a few of Taylor's funny comments that we have captured over the last month:

Taylor and I could hear Jason and Addison in the other room, and Jason was telling Addie "no."  I told Taylor "Addie isn't listening to Daddy."  She looked up at me and said "Addie no listen to me either!"

We are really trying to encourage Taylor to eat more food at meals versus snacking all day.  We've been telling her that if she eats all of her food, she'll get really big.  She loves this idea of getting big, especially when we tell her that we don't want her to get big but to stay a little girl.  She'll finish her strawberries and make a comment like "Mommy, I eat all my strawberries, I get big!!" 

We were going to pick up Jason at work one day, and as we pulled up to his office, Taylor said "I no want Daddy to goose me or get my hami."  This is what they do to each other at night when they are horsing around, playing fort, and he is making her laugh.  She just remembered this all on her own!

Taylor noticed Chuck E Cheese as we we drove by it and she said "I go to Chuck E Cheese, Chuck E Cheese help my boo boo."

She likes to joke with us that she wipes our kisses off.  Jason will give Taylor a kiss, and he'll say "don't wipe my kisses off," and she'll wipe them off and laugh so hard!  One day on her way to a nap, she told Jason "Daddy, I no wipe your kisses off, ok?"

Taylor was giving Janessa (our nanny) a hug and Janessa told her that she didn't like little hugs, she likes big hugs.  Taylor responded to Janessa "I like mommy hugs."  (this one made Mommy's day!!)

First Baseball Game!

Taylor and Addison watched their very first baseball game tonight!  No, it wasn't the Cubs, Braves or Dodgers, it was the good ol' semi-pro team of Northwest Arkansas - the Naturals Baseball Team!  It is honestly pretty sad that we don't have ONE SINGLE professional team here in the state of Arkansas!  Jason would claim that the Razorbacks should count, but they don't!  However, we make do with what we have!

General Mills had a BBQ tailgate before the game, so we were able to hang out with some of my co-workers.  Lucky for us, I still work with Mark so we were able to see Lindsay, Mark and Baby Walker at the tailgate!  Taylor was obsessed with Walker and wanted to be near him the entire afternoon.  She was very motherly though, and kept putting his bib on him like a blanket (in the 100 degree weather), and got on to Addie if she was getting too close!  It was very sweet!

Always finding something to climb on

We had stayed at the tailgate for a long time, so we were thinking about bailing on the game.  However, we knew that Taylor would be disappointed to miss it because on the drive to the game she had told us "Mommy, Daddy, I excited to go baseball game!"  She was so happy to watch some baseball, so we had to let the girls experience their first game!

When we first entered, we decided against sitting in our seats and instead, let the girls stand along the rails to watch the game.  When new batters would step up to the plate, the girls would start dancing with the music.  Even Addison was totally into it and we had to pry them both away in order to continue walking around.

I do have to give this stadium credit, they did a nice job of making this a place that the whole family can enjoy.  They have a nice kids zone for the older kids, and even a playground for the younger kids.

One thing that is a little disturbing is the mascot for the Naturals.  It is a Sasquatch called Strike (only in Arkansas)!  He is a little scary and definitely stinky!  You can only guess how excited Taylor was to see the Sasquatch!

We ended up staying at the game until 9:30pm and had a blast!  The girls really enjoyed themselves and didn't even want to leave.  However, we did hear the following sentence from Taylor about 20 times on the way home "I no like that guy!"  Obviously, the Sasquatch wasn't a hit with Taylor!

Family visits from Hong Kong

My dad and his wife Pei came to visit us in Arkansas this past weekend.  They have lived in Hong Kong for the last year, so this was actually their first time to meet Addison. 

We started the weekend with a trip to Walmart to get some goodies for the girls.  Getting a guitar and drums wasn't on the original list, but apparently my dad thought our house was a little too quiet and wanted to liven things up with a sister-band!

Even though my dad was "technically" on vacation, we put him to work with grilling!  Dad is a master-griller, so he grilled up some mean steaks and chicken for us.  The watermelon that we got to go with the food was dressed up and colored before it got eaten:

We gave Addison her first Corn on the Cob at dinner Monday night, and she loved it!  She put it on her high chair table, and just placed her face into it and sucked out all the juices!  She rarely came up for a breath, it was hilarious!  When we tried to take it away, she got very upset with us.  She liked this Corn on the Cob even more than her birthday cake last week, it was so funny!  I'll be uploading a video to our website sometime this week.

Addison's 1st Birthday

We had a Backyard Splash Party to celebrate Addison turning one years old!  I just happened to be at Target last year when they were clearancing all of their pools and water toys, so I bought a "few" things in hopes that we would do something outdoors for Addie's first birthday.  We ended up having 3 kiddie pools, a slip n slide, water toys, and a huge water slide!

I worked with a girl through etsy and she helped me create tags for the goodie baskets, cupcake toppers, signs, and Addison's name on her high chair.  The decorations and everything ended up being a lot of work, but the party turned out to be so much fun!  We grilled out and had a blast!  I was so happy that we could throw a big party to celebrate Addie!

My mom, Rod & Joey were able to come up for the party!  They were a huge help getting everything set up and also taking care of the girls for us!  It was absolutely wonderful to have them here!

Addison's 11th Month

Addison has gotten so big this past month, her personality is really starting to come out more everyday.  Here are a few of the fun/new things from her 11th month:

• Addison has 5 teeth now, 3 on the top and 2 on the bottom
• She can say Mama, Dada, Uh Oh, and Taylor (Taylor sounds like TaDa)
• She loves to take anything that she is holding in her high chair and throw it to the ground.  Especially food to the doggies or milk that spills as soon as it hits the ground.  Her response to these events are "Uh Oh!"
• She would rather crawl around versus being held.
• Can wave bye-bye
• She can climb up on the bed all by herself.  She gets on Taylor's chair, then pulls herself up on the bed.  She then laughs at you like she KNOWS she is not supposed to be up there.

Big Girl Bed for Taylor

We have pushed this day off for as long as we could, but Taylor is now in a BIG GIRL BED!  Since the girls sleep on the 2nd floor, we haven't wanted to rush putting Taylor in a toddler bed because it makes us extremely nervous about her falling down the stairs.  Yes, we have baby gates, but you just never know! 

Taylor is turning 3 years old in 4 months, so we felt like it was time to make this transition.  She had done well at Nana's house in the bed, so we knew that she would be fine.  We thought that the long holiday weekend would be a great time to make the transition.

Taylor was VERY excited when she saw her crib converted to a Toddler bed.  She quickly jumped in there and started getting everything situated to go to sleep.

After she got in bed, she told us "Okay Mommy Daddy, I go sleep now, bye bye!"  It was too cute, she was so excited!  However, we still had to get the railings on, so we weren't leaving yet.

Addison was very interested in what was going on.  She wanted in the bed with Taylor and wanted a part of the action!

I could tell that she got a little scared once we all eventually left and it was time for her to take a nap.  She cried and was calling for us.  I went in there and calmed her down, and then she had no problem going to sleep.  She has done perfect ever since, and even waits in bed for us to come get her!
